The 2019, is here and we all want to welcome it with lot of enthusiasm. This time around it feels like a new birth, time to do new things and time to move on. Feels like another opportunity to celebrate the joy of life. We make lot of plans that this year I will do this and that, or would go here and there- kind of resolutions plan. And what we really do not bother about is our health. We don’t plan or make resolutions about our own health. Here is a guide for you which you can think about and adopt for this 2019 to stay healthy and disease free all year so you can achieve what you wish for. A healthy body and mind is the only media which let you enjoy things.
So what can you put on your list in 2019? The most important thing is to focus on balance. Balance in everything you do, think, eat, act etc.  I am giving few plans; you can choose all them or some of them or may be just one.
Put self-first-
Many times we ignore ourselves. There is no time to reflect back on our own health. We are running, rushing and reaching out to things we believe in. We forget to sit down and take a moment just for ourselves. So this year make time for yourself. Buying a dairy where you can write whatever comes to your mind, write your feelings etc. would be a very good idea. So do check in within yourself and do reflections more often this year. Love yourself. Don’t judge your body too much. It is not about being self-fish. Thinking about self is not a bad idea especially if you are thinking about your health. For women this is really important.

Find your tribe-
Would not it be lovey to be surrounded by people who think like you and celebrate healthy life just like the way you do? Well, it would be an excellent idea to find your tribe where you feel that you are being loved and you care for others too. It actually supports your emotions gives freedom to express and remove fear from your mind about self-perceived ideas. So there you go, find your community. In Ayurveda finding this type of community and spending time with them is encouraged to maintain good social and emotional health. You may know about SATSANGA. This is what I am talking about.  I also joined a women and wellness group last year where we all women talk about health and actually everything related to our health. And the discussions that take place are really good.

Avoid Pragyaparadha
It is a concept in Ayurveda which is one of the reasons of getting sick. Pragyaparaha- means knowingly doing the mistakes. If we split the word into two parts, it becomes pragya i.e the conscious and aparadha which means mistakes. In simple words it means crimes against wisdom and wilfully ignoring once inner knowing or perversity of mind. In Ayurveda Prahyaparadha is a cause of many diseases. For example: eating ice cream in the cold season, lying down in sunshine for long without any sun protection, not following road rules, or the choices we make in our life which are not good. In our daily lives, if we pay attention we can find many thing which we do we think are wrong or. We are bounded by self-centered and always do things which will benefit us. It also applies to situations when our intelligence simply fails us, when we draw a conclusion that would be reasonably and logically unsound. So, to get rid of illnesses avoid Pragyaaparadha.

Cook your meals-
Another essential component to stay healthy is cooking for self. This will help you maintain weight and also give lot of nutrition. This will minimize eating out and also will save you lot of money. Anyways, you would not want a delivery boy tasting your food before it comes to you. So cook for yourself. Recently, I saw a presentation of a well-known dietitian who focused on cooking is the best method to lose weight. You will also enjoy the walk to the vegetable market, buying them fresh and cooking delicious meals. You will avoid packet food too. Trust me there are lots of benefits of daily cooking. So here you go, start cooking.

Exercise-

A very important part of your daily routine should be to include 20-30 minutes of physical activity. Actually physical inactivity is a cause of many diseases. Practice this very day without fail.

Yearly’s detox plan
You might know that Panchakarma is the best treatment modality in Ayurveda to manage serious health conditions. There is seasonal detox where our Acharyas have emphasized on undergoing body cleansing procedures.
Vamana Karma- Vasanta Ritu (Spring)
Basti Karma- Varsha Ritu (Rainy)
Virechana Karma-  Sharada Ritu (Autumn)
By doing so, you will prevent lot of seasonal diseases and strengthen your immunity. Remember this and contact an Ayurvedic practitioner near to your place and discuss further what would suit you best.

Care for your mind
Yoga and meditation should be art of daily routine. Take 15 minutes out daily from whatever you are doing and just close your eyes and focus on breathing. Relax and breathe. Even few stretches or Surya namasakara will help you overcome many obstacles. Perform Pranayma.  ‘Anuloma Viloma’ or alternate nostril breathing will help in a Vata condition, ‘Shitali’ or cooling breath will help in a Pitta condition and ‘Ujjayi’ or ‘Darth Vader’ breath will help for Kapha conditions.

Final Words: 2019 will be special so don’t forget yourself in between of everything. Take time to plan holidays with family and friends. Maintain your Circadian rhythms. Join Satsanga and stay blessed.
